TRiO programs help students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to higher education. Funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, the Federal TRiO Programs are:

WHO IS SERVED NATIONWIDE?

Over 2,600 TRiO programs currently serve nearly 872,000 low-income Americans. As mandated by Congress, two thirds of Upward Bound TRiO participants served must come from families with incomes under $24,000 (family of four), where neither parent graduated from a four year college.

TRiO WORKS!

• An estimated two million TRiO students have graduated from college.
• Students who receive a full range of TRiO services (counseling, special courses and tutoring) are twice as likely to be retained in high school and throughout college.
• Upward Bound students are four times more likely to earn an undergraduate degree than those students from similar backgrounds who do not participate in TRiO.
